Forfar Bridies (Scottish Hand Pies)

Ingredients

500g minced beef

1 large onion, finely chopped

50g beef suet

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

500g shortcrust pastry

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: additional herbs and spices for seasoning
Directions
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced beef, chopped onion, beef suet, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a floured surface and cut it into rounds.
Spoon the meat mixture onto one half of each pastry round and fold the other half over to create a half-moon shape.
Crimp the edges of the pastry to seal the filling inside, then brush the tops with beaten egg.
Make a small slit in the pastry, then bake the hand pies in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
Remove the Forfar Bridies from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
