Old-Fashioned Family Dutch Letter Bars

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

7 oz almond paste

1 tsp almond extract

2 egg yolks

Powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, softened butter, and granulated sugar until crumbly.
Press half of the dough into the baking dish to form the crust.
Mix almond paste, almond extract, and egg yolks until smooth; spread over the crust.
Crumble remaining dough over the almond paste layer for a topping.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before cutting into squares.
