Ingredients
Fresh green beans
Bacon or salt pork
Onion
Garlic
Chicken broth
Salt
Pepper
Directions
Start by washing, trimming, and cutting the green beans into bite-sized pieces.
Cook bacon or salt pork until crispy in a large pot. Remove and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the pot.
Sauté chopped onions in the rendered fat until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Return the cooked bacon to the pot, add green beans, pour in chicken broth, and season with salt and pepper.
Simmer the mixture, then cover the pot and cook the green beans slowly until tender but slightly crisp.
Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot, garnished with crispy bacon.
For added flavor, consider a dash of apple cider vinegar or a pinch of brown sugar.
