1 cup unsalted butter, softened

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a cake pan.
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve the delicious 1950s French butter cake.
