Ingredients
4 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
4 oz cream cheese
1 cup fresh berries (such as strawberries or blueberries)
Maple syrup, for serving
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Butter, for greasing
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to create the custard mixture.
Cut a slit in each bread slice to create a pocket for the filling.
Spread a layer of cream cheese inside each pocket and add a generous amount of fresh berries.
Dip the stuffed bread slices into the custard mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
Place the stuffed slices in the prepared baking dish and drizzle any remaining custard over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the French toast is golden and crispy.
Serve hot with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a pat of butter.
