Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup cold water
6-8 fresh apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Directions
Prepare the crust by combining flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water and mix until dough comes together.
Divide dough in half and roll out each portion into a rectangle. Place one rectangle in a baking dish to form the base of the apple slices.
Peel and slice the apples. Toss them with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Spread the apple mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
Cover the apples with the second rectangle of dough, crimping the edges to seal the slices. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
Bake the apple slices in a preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Allow the slices to cool slightly before serving.
