Ingredients
1 pound pasta (such as penne, rigatoni, or ziti)
2 cups tomato sauce
1 pound ground beef (or protein of choice)
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the pasta until al dente, then drain and set aside.
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, then add onion and garlic, and sauté.
Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 10 minutes.
Combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan in a bowl.
Layer pasta, meat sauce, and cheese mixture in the baking dish, repeating the layers.
Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
Let it rest before serving. Enjoy the warm, cheesy goodness!
