Ingredients
1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions
In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create an egg wash.
Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, dip it into the egg wash, and then coat it again in the flour mixture.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the shrimp from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve mom’s classic diner-style fried shrimp hot and crispy with your favorite dipping sauce and sides!
