my texas chili

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or ground turkey

1 onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 bell peppers, chopped

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

2 cups beef broth

3 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon cumin

1 tablespoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium-high heat until fully cooked.
Add the diced onions, garlic, and bell peppers to the pot and sauté until the vegetables are tender.
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook uncovered for about 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the drained and rinsed kidney beans to the pot and let the chili simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes until the flavors meld together.
Season the chili with salt and pepper to taste before serving hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped cilantro.
