Old-Fashioned Company Spice Cake — cinnamon, nutmeg & homemade comfort

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a cake pan with butter and flour to prevent sticking.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or frost with cream cheese frosting for an extra touch of sweetness.
