Old-Fashioned Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

2 cups beef broth

2 tablespoons flour
Directions
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
Shape the mixture into oval patties of even size.
Cook the patties in a skillet until browned on both sides, then set aside.
In the same skillet, cook the sliced mushrooms until golden brown and tender.
Add flour to the mushrooms to create a roux, then gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to make a smooth gravy. Simmer until thickened.
Return the beef patties to the skillet, coat them in the mushroom gravy, and simmer for a few minutes.
Once cooked through and gravy reaches desired consistency, remove from heat.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
