Ingredients
Fresh, crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
All-purpose flour
Granulated sugar
Unsalted butter
Eggs
Baking powder
Ground cinnamon
Salt
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
Peel and core the apples, then slice them thinly.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt, and mix until just combined.
Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan and layer half of the sliced apples on top.
Repeat with the remaining batter and apples, creating a beautiful apple-studded cake.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving, and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
