Ingredients
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Begin by peeling, coring, and slicing the Granny Smith apples.
In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Place the sliced apples in the slow cooker and pour the sugar and spice mixture over them. Gently toss to coat the apples evenly.
Cover the slow cooker and cook the apples on low heat for 4-5 hours, or until the apples are tender.
Stir the apples occasionally during the cooking process to ensure even cooking and distribution of flavors.
Once the apples are cooked to your desired tenderness, serve them warm as a side dish, dessert, or topping for pancakes or oatmeal.
